With a large numbers of bars and coffe shops, Alicante is the city that never sleeps. The city is small enough to take a walk in, it is full o history, carnevals and culture and has at the same time the best beaches in Spain.
Rambla in the middle of the city is full with icecream bars and coffe shops. El Barrio - the old town is where the locals go in the evenings and between Explanada and Calle Alfonso El Sabio you will find the more sofisticated restaurants and pubs. The city is a mixture of history and modernity.
There is a market at Explanada every wednesday during the summer. Don´t forget to bargain. On the terrasse along Explanada you can take a cup of coffe and enjoy the best view of the city.
Take a stroll up to the castle Castillo de Santa Bárbara at 166 meters. The view over the city and the ocean is spectaculare. Inside the castle is a museum with sculptures and famous faces from Goya and Valle- Inclá. The castle is open every day apart from mondays.
